Privacy & Cookie Policy
One page, kept short on purpose — this covers what we collect, why, and the one cookie the site actually sets.
What we collect
- Your account email — used for login (magic link/OAuth via Supabase) and, if you opt in, to send you scan results.
- The URL you submit for scanning and the pages our crawler discovers on that domain (same-domain links only, respecting that site's
robots.txt) — used to produce your score and site map. - A business profile detected from the scanned site (a best-guess name/description, see the README for how this works) — used to generate the citation-check queries run against Perplexity for the AI-visibility check.
- Scan history tied to your account, so you can see past scores and, once available, a score-over-time trend.
We don't sell any of this, and we don't share it beyond what's needed to run the scan itself (the site being scanned, and Perplexity for the citation check).
Cookies
OSEM sets exactly one cookie: a Supabase authentication session cookie, used to keep you signed in. It's strictly necessary — the site can't tell you're logged in without it — and isn't used for tracking or advertising.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to see aggregate traffic and page-performance trends. Both are cookieless — they don't set a cookie or identify you individually — but we still treat them as an opt-in category on the same cookie banner you saw on your first visit: they only run if you choose "Accept", and stay off if you choose "Necessary only." We don't run any ad-tracking scripts either way.
Periodic re-scans and email (opt-in only)
Some parts of the product involve us re-scanning a site on a schedule and emailing you the results — for example, a free weekly check while we scope a remediation project with you. This only ever happens for a site and inbox you've explicitly opted in for, via a separate checkbox at signup — not as a default, and not bundled into account creation generally.
